(Ex. 34:6-7 and Deut: 5:9-10.)Predispositions to sickness and sin descend upon us in two ways: physically and spiritually.andamp;nbsp; Physical weaknesses can manifest as a tendency to fall victim to certain bodily sicknesses.andamp;nbsp; Doctors recognize that some families and ethnic groups are prone to certain sicknesses.andamp;nbsp; A predisposition, such as sickle-cell anemia, provides an obvious example of the need for generational healing.Theandamp;nbsp; recognition that certain family groups have tendencies to develop certain spiritual and emotional problems such as alcoholism is a reflection of spiritual weaknesses.andamp;nbsp;andamp;nbsp; An example this is true of Native Americans in my wife, Judithandamp;rsquo;s family.andamp;nbsp; It is important for people to be aware of generational curses and other inheritances in order to break the negative wounding that descend upon them through their ancestry.Identifying family curses and blessings, and their inherited patterns, can be done by filling out a genogram or ancestral andamp;lsquo;Family Treeandamp;rsquo;.andamp;nbsp; Just filling out the genogram often helps us find out how we can best pray, in two ways: Finding out how God has given our families certain gifts of character for which we can thank and praise him.Finding out patterns of weakness which we need to break through with prayer.For example, when studying my own family tree, I realized in a profound way that the men in my ancestry were affected by abandonment and loneliness.andamp;nbsp; This may have increased my inclination to go it alone, leading to an exaggerated independence and an excessive desire for solitude.Demonic influence can also be passed on from generation to generation one way or another.andamp;nbsp; Whatever your religious background you can do something to free yourself from anything evil that has come down in time- from recent times or from a thousand years past.We have seen great positive results by healing people of generational weaknesses through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ideal Location for Conferences, Seminars and Retreats

Whitehill Chase is used as our training resource for all our programmes, including Christian healing and medicine to churches and society. We were happy to hire our facilities to them and felt that this might be of wider interest.Although we have been here for more than 30 years, our existence is not that well known and not many people realise that our facilities are available for hire. We have a large lounge and a separate area for serving food, together with kitchen facilities. We are happy for outside caterers to use our facilities or to put together a package using our regular caterer, subject to availability. We have good car-parking and our property, Whitehill Chase, is set in pleasant grounds which can be used if the weather permits. Finally, we have bedrooms available and are able to provide overnight accommodation if this is required.Please see our small brochure which describes our facilities.If you would like to visit us to view Whitehill Chase, please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a time.

New Book ~ Dealing with depression from a Christian perspective

Encountering Depression ~ Frequently asked questions answered for Christians - andamp;pound;8.99

This accessible and easy-to-read book deals with depression in both a practical and spiritual way, raising questions such as 'what is depression?' and 'why is God letting this happen to me?'andamp;nbsp; In each chapter the authors offer some basic information on the topic in question; meditative material drawn from the Christian tradition to aid reflection; an inspirational story from a fellow sufferer, a helpful quotation or a cartoon to lift the spirits and a simple exercise for the reader to try to help them feel better.
This book covers both the features of depression that are applicable to all, and those that are specific to Christians in dealing with it.andamp;nbsp; It is divided into small chunks, enabling the reader to dip in and out at leisure and is not daunting for someone seeking help for their depression.
'I just couldn't put it down!andamp;nbsp; This is a andquot;must haveandquot; book and, almost frustratingly, I agreed with every word...andamp;nbsp; The insights brought by a very experienced priest and counsellor along with those of a gifted Christian psychiatrist (who happens to be his wife) bring a brilliantly complementary and illuminating approach.andamp;nbsp; Many in depression will find hope for tomorrow and gain a confidence in the truth that the valley of a depressive illness will end.andamp;nbsp; There is so much empathy and constructive help offered for the person who is depressed, their family and carers...Difficult issues are tackled, such as andquot;Where is God in this?andquot;, andquot;Is it the devil?andquot;,andamp;nbsp; andquot;It must be my fault.andquot;andamp;nbsp; I hope this book will be a recommended read for all.'andamp;nbsp;

Do you have a heart for encouraging
healing in and through your Church?
Russ Parker has recently completed the revision of the very popular Growing a Healing Ministry.
An interactive and imaginative five session course on the Christian healing ministry for use by small groups. Anyone who has experience in leading a small group can lead this course.
It gives an excellent introduction to the ministry of healing and provides helpful practical advice for encouraging the healing ministry in and through the local church.
andamp;nbsp;Using the analogy of a plant growing, the five sessions are as follows:

Learning to communicate well with someone who is living with dementia is one way we can re-establish relationships, so that their isolation is less devastating. Those who care for family members with dementia say that being listened to really does make a difference to their lives.andamp;nbsp;This course will help your church and community reduce this isolation - helping people to stay in touch.
We can do more collectively if we have a common understanding and look for creative ways to respond to those affected by dementia living in our community.
How does it work?Run by specially trained tutors in two half-day (or evening) sessions, it provides an appreciation of the impact of dementia. Part one looks at the difficult issues facing those caring for people living with dementia and how we might give appropriate support. In part two the emphasis is on how we can effectively listen to and communicate with a person living with the condition.
Special introductory offer to churches: andamp;pound;250 for the course including 10 handbooks. Handbooks for additional attendees andamp;pound;3 or andamp;pound;25 for 10 inc. Pandamp;amp;P.
