A Quiet Day is time set aside to rest, hear God and have an opportunity to think and receive ministry. Quiet Days are suitable for individuals, groups and organisations.
Within our busy schedules, we seem to spend our day’s running back and forward. But where does God come in all of this? We are almost too busy to pray! A Quiet Day gives space within a safe environment. Space just to simply be.
At Acorn, we organise Quiet Days for outside groups and as part of our programme in promoting wholeness of mind, body and spirit. The day includes times to be quiet together and space for individuals to be quiet on their own. Words, pictures, music, symbols and other things may be included. The emphasis on the day will be on being quiet. Within the day there are three meditations on a Biblical theme and a Communion Service.
There is ample time too for personal reflection. Prayer ministry is also available throughout the day. There is a natural rhythm that needs to be understood and accepted, although it has within it, a life of its own. The natural rhythm will be, to begin with, the energy of arrival and morning freshness, and the need to settle and gather for the day. This will deepen the silence and the silence will take hold. Even if there is talking at lunch it is possible to regain the silence and as the second part of the day proceeds, people will be preparing to gather up the experience of silence and go back to home and demands. “
These are normally held on the second Thursday, bi-monthly. Please do check our Course Programme to find out when our next Quiet Day takes place.
