Acorn Canada

Acorn Canada came into being during 2004 following a pre-launch visit by Russ Parker in November 2003 when he and Andy Heber who accompanied him from the UK, joined the three UK trained Christian Listening tutors in Ottawa, and delivered three Importance of Listening courses in the Ottawa region. The third course was held in Ottawa itself and distinguished itself by being probably the largest course of its kind with over 200 people attending.

Since then, the Canadian organization named itself ‘Acorn Canada’ and in the fall of 2004 signed an agreement with Whitehill Chase to deliver Christian Listening training in Canada. This is an exciting prospect since Canada is a huge country and our vision sees the expansion of Acorn Canada over time to cover Canada ‘coast-to-coast’ and from the arctic to the United States border – and maybe beyond.

During 2004, Acorn Canada held two Learning to Listen Courses and so far in 2005, we have held another two ‘Learning to Listen’ courses as well as a ‘Called to Listen’ course.

The Acorn Canada team has now expanded in size and added three more UK trained tutors. The full team, with the assistance of Andy Heber from the UK, ran a week long residential Called to Listen course at the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa’s retreat centre, Temple Pastures in Gatineau, Quebec during the first week of May 2005.

Acorn Canada’s Mission and Vision Statements are:
