A handful of light - Daily Bible readings for Advent and Christmas - £7.99

Advent and Christmas fall during the dark winter months in the northern hemisphere, when days are short, temperatures low and the prospect of spring remote. Taking the theme of ?hope? and interweaving it with the themes of light and darkness found throughout the Bible, Michael Mitton has written readings for every day of the season, from 1 December to 6 January, the feast of the Epiphany.

Hope is a word that resonates at any time of year, however. This book can also be read by those who want to reflect on how the yearning for ?something more? buried in every human heart connects with the hope of salvation manifested in the baby born in the stable. That same yearning connects, too, with the hope of the final revelation of God?s kingdom, when one day the full glory and light of his love and majesty will be clear for all to see.

A Heart to Listen - currently out of stock - £8.99

Listening has become a lost art in our world, which has grown ever noisier, more superficial and stressed.  We forget about listening not only to others but to God, to ourselves, to our communities- and even to the needs of out planet.  If we do not listen, we cannot hope to grow in wisdom, to deepen relationships with others, or to share our faith in sensitive and appropriate ways.

This new edition of A Heart to Listen explores how, with God’s help, we can relearn the essential art of listening.  Michael Mitton interweaves biblical reflection with insights from many years of listening ministry in the UK and abroad.  To speak to heart as well as head, he concludes each chapter with an episode from a creative story that tells of people listening and learning from one another in a challenging cross-cultural setting.

Michael Mitton is a freelance writer and consultant and Adviser in Fresh Expressions in the Diocese of Derby.  He was previously the Diocesan Mission and Ministry Development Adviser.  Before that, he was Deputy Director of the Acorn Christian Healing Foundation, heading up Acorn’s Christian Listeners, and was Director of Anglican Renewal Ministries from 1989 to 1997.  He has also written The Rainbow of Renewal and A Handful of Light for BRF.

Cry Freedom - £6.99

By Mary Pytches

Cry Freedom - £6.99

Cry Freedom

How much freedom do you enjoy to worship God unhindered by issues that would otherwise cloud your relationship with Him?  How much freedom from worry?  From anxiety or fear?  How much freedom to be the person God has called you to be?

True freedom can seem an elusive thing, yet it was promised by Jesus to all who follow Him when He said, ‘if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed’ (John 8:36).  As we read those words our hearts leap with anticipation, but quickly fall again as we face the areas of bondage we still struggle with.

In this book Mary Pytches addresses the issues that cause a lack of spiritual freedom in out lives, including regret over our past, unresolved hurt, unforgiveness and flawed thinking, and shows the reader the steps they can take to enter into the freedom that Christ has promised us.

Dreaming of Home ~ Homecoming as a model for renewal and mission - £7.99

Finding a sense of 'home', a special place of acceptance and belonging, is a fundamental human longing.  In this powerful and profound book, Michael Mitton shows how it is, in fact, an essential part of both personal development and spiritual renewal.  Drawing on his own experience of the 'homecoming' journey, he considers how we can go about finding our true home within God's eternal kingdom, how to identify the forces within us that may hinder this search, and the importance of churches offering a welcoming home to all.

Each chapter concludes with questions for personal reflection or group discussion and the book also features an imaginative retelling of the parable of the prodigal son, addressing some of the issues raised through a story-based approach.
